Circular Economy

Re:inventex is a fundamental link
in circular economy of the textile and fashion industry

The textile and fashion industry is one of the most developed in Ukraine and worldwide. However, waste from this industry accounts for nearly 10% of all garbage in Ukraine, and it can take up to 100 years to decompose. Production waste is often not properly disposed of and ends up in landfills, creating a significant environmental problem.

Moreover, the industry's growth exacerbates its negative impact on the environment due to the substantial consumption of resources such as land, water, and electricity, as well as harmful CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

To protect the environment from textile waste and reduce the negative impact of the textile and fashion industry on the ecosystem, the circular economy is being actively implemented. This model promotes a cyclical business operation where, instead of a linear system where resources are extracted, processed, used, and discarded, resources are reused, and the product lifecycle is extended.

RemakingRemaking

The philosophy of conscious consumption focuses on reducing waste, particularly textile waste. This is achieved by increasing responsibility in production and creating products designed for long-term use. Special attention is given to the possibilities of repair, upcycling, and reuse. Only after textiles or clothing have served their purpose or can no longer be used as intended are the remnants sent for recycling. Recycling textile waste is the final stage in the material's long lifecycle and the beginning of a new production process, closing the loop.

Step 1: Waste (Post-Industrial, Pre-Consumer)

Step 2: Collection, sorting, and preparation for recycling

Step 3: Recycling (mechanical, chemical)

Step 4: Additional processing (if needed)

At the recycling stage, continuous improvement of both recycling technologies and associated processes, such as collection, sorting, and material preparation, is crucial. This ensures the efficiency and sustainability of the entire recycling cycle.

Re:inventex aims to cultivate a culture of textile waste management within the business community and society, enhancing recycling efficiency and contributing to the creation of a new, effective circular model.

Goals of the circular economy in the textile and fashion industry

According to the European Green Deal and the EU Textile Strategy 2030, by 2030, all textile products produced or imported into the EU must be recyclable, primarily composed of recycled fibers, safe, and manufactured in compliance with social norms and environmental standards. These initiatives include government regulation of textile production and imports, promoting clothing repair and reuse, and fostering a sustainable fashion culture to replace environmentally harmful fast fashion.

The international community has intensified efforts to develop a circular economy and responsible use of natural resources. More companies are joining the textile waste recycling movement, as it addresses several critical objectives:

  • managing and disposing of their own textile waste

  • discovering new sources of high-quality raw materials

  • improving environmental conditions
